Paolo Maldini to retire at the end of the season

After the Andy Ritchie tribute and at the risk of Pies overdosing on homage, it is now time to doff our Dirk Kuyt baseball caps to the great Paolo Maldini who has announced he will hang up his boots at the end of the season.

A great professional, a loyal one-club man and surely one of the top 10 defenders of all time, Maldini has revealed that he is now suffering pain in his knees on a daily basis. At 38, and having been a mainstay of one of the biggest football clubs in the world for more than two decades, that is understandable. This in-depth video shows what makes Maldini one of the best.
