I’ll be the first to admit that my Spanish isn’t great, but from what I can garner from Carlos Tevez’s appearance on the Susana Gimenez show (Argentina’s answer to Oprah or, perhaps more accurately, Vanessa Feltz), it doesn’t seem like the little urchin is enjoying his time in Manchester much.
Said Tevez:
“I don’t have any new friends. I am always with my family and lifelong friends. I don’t even leave my house. I’m the stay-at-home type.
“There is nothing to do in Manchester. The problem is I’m still speaking very poor English. When I finish my contract I will not return to Manchester ever – not even on holiday.
“What’s wrong with the city? The weather, everything. It has nothing.”
Erm, not strictly true. There’s a hat museum.
Speaking of ropey mistranslations, I think can’t help but think that ‘when I finish my contract’ should probably read ‘when I rip the last three-and-a-half years of my contract up and piss off to Madrid at the first available juncture this summer’.
As I say, my Spanish isn’t great.
