Manchester United suffered their second defeat of the season after a painful 3-0 defeat to Tottenham at Old Trafford, a result which ranks as Jose Mourinho’s worst-ever as a manager in a home fixture.
However, it arguably could’ve been a very different game if Romelu Lukaku hadn’t made a hash of an early open goal that presented itself after a mistake from Danny Rose.
Possibly attempting to make a point about United’s lack of defensive recruitment, Mourinho drafted in Ander Herrera into a back three alongside Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.
However, that experimental defence would be breached shortly after half-time, with Harry Kane heading home superbly from a corner to put the visitors ahead on 50 minutes.
It took just two minutes for the Lilywhites to double their advantage, with the excellent Lucas Moura adding to the lead after good play from Christian Eriksen.
United looked shellshocked by the quickfire brace from their opponents and struggled to provide a cohesive response, looking muddled both in possession and out.
Icing the cake late on, Moura notched his second of the game courtesy of a fabulous solo effort to round off a fine display from both the Brazilian and his team-mates.
In fact, Moura’s performance was go good that he had United fans queuing up for a selfie after the final whistle…

The win sees Mauricio Pochettino’s side extend their 100% start to the season, with the north Londoners, despite a lack of summer signings, looking well capable of another top four campaign.
As for Mourinho and his dreary mob, they look a side bereft of structure or belief, despite their myriad big names.
With United fans disgruntled and an obvious noxious atmosphere beginning to envelope the club, one wonders if Mourinho still has the requisite mindset to get his side truly back on track ever again.
