A crazy period of extra-time saw Lyon score four goals against Wolfsburg and lift the Women’s Champions League title for a record fifth time.
Normal time failed to produce a winner at the Valeriy Lobanovskyi Dynamo Stadium in Kiev, although a lack of goal-line technology meant Lyon were somewhat unlucky not to take the lead on 69 minutes.
However, extra-time would see a flurry of action.
It was Wolfsburg who would take the lead, with Pernille Harder’s shot deflecting in off Wendie Renard.
However, soon after, the Germans went down to 10 woman after striker Alexandra Popp picked up a second yellow for a wild challenge on sub Delphine Cascarino (no relation we imagine).
On 98 minutes, Lyon get themselves back on level terms, with midfielder Amandine Henry firing home after a fine through-ball from Ada Hegerberg.
A minute later, the French side took the lead, with striker Eugénie Le Sommer netting from close-range after good work from Dutch winger Shanice van de Sanden.
Lyon were making the most of their extra player and on 103 minutes, more incisive play from van de Sanden set up Hegerberg, whose scuffed shot beat ‘keeper Almuth Schult.
Another goal would come for holders Lyon in the second half of extra-time, this time via a superb finish from veteran Camille Abily, who was making her last Champions League appearance.

The game would end in a 4-1 win for Lyon, who have now won each of the least three Champions League titles.
Not bad going!
