Classic Moment: Justin Fashanu scores on the turn against Liverpool, 1980
It’s Gay Week on Who Ate All The Pies, so here is a cracking goal (a goal of the season, no less) from the first openly gay famous footballer, Justin Fashanu. This excellent turn and shot was against Liverpool in Fashanu’s Norwich days. Fashanu transferred to Nottingham Forest shortly afterwards, where he allegedly had the following exchange with Brian Clough:
Cloughie: “Where do you go if you want a loaf of bread?”
Fashanu: “A baker’s, I suppose.”
Cloughie: “Where do you go if you want a leg of lamb?”
Fashanu: “A butcher’s.”
Cloughie: “So why do you keep going to that bloody poofs’ club?”
