As it was foretold in the prophesy, Boca Juniors’ prodigal son (or one of them, at least) has returned. Carlos Tevez has rejoined his boyhood club from Juventus after nine years scavenging the wastes of European football.

Having joined Boca as a young’n, Tevez made his senior debut for the Buenos Aires side in 2001 at the age of 16. He then toddled off to Corinthians in 2004 before finally fulfilling his lifelong dream of playing under Alan Pardew at West Ham the following year.

As you well know, largely successful stints at Manchester United, Man City and the Bianconeri duly followed.

Now he’s back at La Bombonera, but his heart never truly left…

“It is a day of joy and great satisfaction,” beamed Boca president Daniel Angelici.

“The return of Carlos Tevez in an extraordinary moment of his career is fantastic news for all partners and supporters of Boca and Argentine football.

“The presence of Carlos will give another leap in quality to the great squad we have.”

Yep. This is a big deal for Boca.
