Former Chelsea Women forward Eniola Aluko has signed for Italian champions Juventus.
The 31-year-old left Chelsea this summer after six years which saw her lift the Women’s Super League title for the second time as well as winning two FA Cups.
Aluko had an option to stay in west London but decided instead to look for a new challenge.
On moving to Italy, Aluko said:
Delighted and honoured to join a club with an overwhelming history, ambition and success.
So proud to hold the shirt worn by an endless list of legends. I can’t wait to get started!!
Juve were the Women’s Serie A winners for the first time in 2017/18, beating Brescia to the title courtesy of goal difference.
Aluko was involved in the much-publicised discrimination case against England manager Mark Sampson, who would eventually be sacked by the FA over previous behaviour.
Indeed, she hasn’t played for England since 2016.
Aluko will team up with English midfielder Katie Zelem, who moved to Italy from Liverpool last year.
With the women’s game growing globally, it’s good to see English players spreading their wings and moving abroad.
