Queens Park Rangers 3-2 West Bromwich Albion – Premier League – 20th December 2014
Charlie Austin once again proved to be QPR’s saviour, with the striker bagging a hat-trick to secure a 3-2 win against West Brom.
West Brom had started the game superbly and with Stephane Sessegnon pulling the strings for the Baggies, they were 2-0 up within 20 minutes. Joleon Lescott opened the scoring with a rare goal before Portuguese winger Silvestre Varela dobuled the visitors’ advantage. At that stage it looked as though the Hoops were headed for another defeat, but a penalty from Austin in 24 minutes, after Leroy Fer had been pulled back in the box, started the comeback. Austin’s second and third came after the break, courtesy of a close-range volley soon after the re-start followed by a header late on.
That Austin-inspired win sees Rangers move out of the bottom three and go level on points with Alan Irvine’s Baggies.
