A Mark Noble spot-kick secured a second consecutive home win for West Ham on Saturday, with the Hammers beating Hull City 1-0.
However, the visitors were desperately unlucky to come away from the London Stadium with nothing, with the Tigers hitting the frame of the goal three times. Indeed, the post played such a pivotal role in West Ham’s win that the club’s fans voted it the ‘man of the match’!
Despite propping up the Premier League table, Hull produced a decent display in east London, with Dieumerci Mbokani and Andrew Robertson both hitting the woodwork while Noble himself headed against his own post.
After the game, West Ham fans voted that match-winning post the ‘Man of the Match’ on the club’s Twitter poll, with the heroic woodwork getting a hefty 57% of the vote…

While West Ham fans could see the funny side of it all, poor old Hull will be rueing their missed chances, with Mike Phelan’s Tigers now bottom of the table courtesy of their paltry haul of just 12 points from 17 games. And to think, they were top (for a very very short while) at the start of the campaign!
