Celtic’s Champions League qualifying clash away to Northern Irish side Linfield was also going to be a heated affair, and the game saw the home fans hurl missiles onto the pitch on a number occasions.
Celtic attacker Leigh Griffiths found himself in the middle of one bout of missile throwing – a Buckfast bottle, no less – but oddly still picked up a booking for complaining to the referee.
The incident happened in the second-half, with Celtic already 2-0 up. While trying to take a corner, Griffiths found himself the target of a whole host of missiles, including bottles and coins.
However, after picking up some of the debris and complaining to the officials on more than once occasion, Griffiths picked up a rather harsh booking, no doubt for perceived time-wasting.

Seems a bit harsh to us!
Celtic, who had refused their ticket allocation due to the volatile nature of the fixture, ran out 2-0 winners in the end, which puts them in the driving seat ahead of the return leg.
After the game, Griffiths tied a Celtic scarf to one of the goalposts in a rather inflammatory gesture.
As for Linfield, they could well find themselves picking up a fine from UEFA after the idiotic behaviour of a section of their fans.
