Juventus pulled off a 2-0 win over Valencia in their maiden Champions League voyage of the season, but had to do so without Cristiano Ronaldo for the most part.
That’s because their €100million investment was shown a straight red card just 34 minutes into his competition debut for the Old Lady after becoming embroiled in the very tamest of tangles with defender Jeison Murillo.
Murillo initiated the whole sorry thing by hurling himself to the ground in an attempt to con a freekick inside his own area, as Ronaldo reacted angrily with a bit of a weaselly head-rake…
Rather than telling the two grown men to stop acting like four-year-olds and let play continue, referee Felix Brych got all puffed up and marched over to administer a straight red card to Ronaldo.
The childishness then continued as the Juve star burst into tears, whimpering off down the tunnel like he’d had his ice-cream taken off him for making a mess…

Jesus wept. Is this really what the Champions League has come to? Don’t tell us… we already know.
Ronaldo will now miss Juve’s double-header against his old club Manchester United, which may go some way to explaining his ludicrously overwrought response.
