Galatsaray 1-1 Chelsea – Champions League Last 16 1st Leg – 26th February 2014

Turkey Soccer Champions League

A 1-1 draw away at Galatasaray is hardly a disaster but had Chelsea made the most of their first-half dominance they could well have put the whole tie to bed within 45 minutes. Fernando Torres did score early on but despite dominating til the break, the Blues couldn’t find a second goal.

After the interval, Torres then missed a great chance to make it 2-0 but after that Gala improved considerably and were rewarded for their play when, just after the hour mark, an unmarked Aurelien Chedjou converted from a Wesley Sneijder corner. And that defensive slip by the Blues would cost them, with the game ultimately ending in a draw. Not a bad result at all for Jose Mourinho’s side who will be confident of winning the second leg at Stamford Bridge.
