Chelsea 1-1 Southampton – Premier League – 15th March 2015

Chelsea failed to make the most of Man City’s defeat at Burnley, with the Blues playing out an entertaining 1-1 draw at home to Southampton.

The hosts took the lead on 11 minutes, with Diego Costa heading home his 18th goal of the season. However, the Saints were soon back on level terms, courtesy of a Dusan Tadic spot-kick after Nemanja Matic had felled Sadio Mané in the box. Indeed, for the majority of the first-half, it was the visitors who looked the more threatening with Chelsea lucky to go in at the break all square.

The Blues improved in the second-period but despite going close on numerous occasions, they just couldn’t apply the requisite finishing touch, with Southampton holding on for a well-earned point.

Chelsea are now six points clear of Man City while Ronald Koeman’s charges go sixth.
