Photos: Liverpool 1-2 Fiorentina, Champions League

Mini match report: This was a soggy bottomed end to Liverpool’s CL campaign this season – the not-very-exciting Europa League awaits. Yossi Benayoun put Liverpool ahead just before half-time with a header from a Stevie G free-kick, before Martin Jorgensen and then a very late winner by Alberto Gilardino sealed Fiorentina’s status as group winners. At least Liverpool fans got more than a glimpse of Alberto Aquilani, who lasted 70-odd minutes and showed some deft touches and a willingness to run around like it was a five-a-side game. As long as AA stays fit, he can only get better.
