John Barnes Tests Microphone Before After-Dinner Speech With Quick Burst Of ‘Rapper’s Delight’ (Video)

By Chris Wright

While gearing up for an after-dinner speech or some such, John Barnes was instructed to do a quick test for the levels on his microphone.

Rather than the usual humdrum “testing, testing, 1-2-3″ schtick, Barnes – being a peerless master of the art form – instead opted for a quick, double-speed burst of seminal hip-hop track “Rapper’s Delight” by the Sugar Hill Gang.

Of course he bloody well did (WARNING: the video contains just the slightest hint of coarse Scally profanities)…

I listen to “World in Motion” all the time on my iPod. The John Barnes rap is the epitome of England’s talent…
