A superb Mohamed Salah goal booked Liverpool’s place in the last 16 of the Champions League afater a tense victory over Napoli at Anfield.
Liverpool needed to win either 1-0 or by a two-goal margin to progress to the knockout stages and they proved to be the better side throughout the contest.
The only goal of the game would come before the break, with Salah jinking into the box before firing through Arsenal loanee David Ospina’s legs.
Roared on by the home fans, the hosts created a number of chances, with Salah, Sadio Mané and Virgil van Dijk all failing to make the most of decent chances.
Napoli were disappointing although late on, they had a great chance to net that all-important equaliser, only for Alisson to brilliantly block a close-range effort from Arkadiusz Milik.
The game would end in a deserved 1-0 win to the Reds, who progress to the last 16 in second place in Group C, behind PSG.
