Champions League: Shakhtar 1-1 Man Utd – Taison Sucker-Punch Denies Red Devils Victory In Ukraine (Highlights)

By Alan Duffy

Shakhtar Donetsk 1-1 Manchester United – Champions League – 2nd October 2013

David Moyes’ Man Utd, without the injured Wayne Rooney, produced a decent away performance in the Ukraine on Wednesday night to secure a valuable 1-1 draw and steady the ship somewhat.

Danny Welbeck opened the scoring for the Red Devils on 18 minutes, albeit after a throw-in was wrongly awarded to the visitors. After that goal, United looked mostly comfortable but with just 15 minutes of normal time left, striker Taison fired into the roof of the net after a Nemanja Vidic block fell to him in the box.

United stay top of Group A and will be hoping the result boosts their patchy season.

Tough game. Shakhtar gave us a fright for much of the game.

Happy to leave with a point.
