Manchester United 3-0 Tottenham Hotspur – Premier League – 15th March 2015
Manchester United produced a superb performance against Spurs on Sunday, with the Red Devils easily overpowering a disappointing Tottenham side.
Juan Mata, in for the suspended Angel Di Maria, was superb throughout with the hosts going 2-0 up after just 19 minutes. Michael Carrick was the architect of Marouane Fellaini’s opener before the former West Ham midfielder then scored himself in a fantastic opening period from Louis Van Gaal’s side.
With Spurs struggling early on, Mauricio Pochettino subbed off Andros Townsend after only 30 minutes but the game was all but gone for the visitors even at that stage. Indeed, soon after, Wayne Rooney made it 3-0 after some dismal defending from the north Londoners (with suitably apt celebration).
The second-half saw Spurs struggle to get themselves back into the game, with United picking up a deserved three points which sees them go one point behind third-placed Arsenal. As for Tottenham, they are now six points off a top-four berth.
