No goals is a lot less goals than most people thought they’d see at OT last night, but then I suppose most people didn’t reckon that Fergie would mistake the Champions League for the League Cup; I know he’s a pensioner but still, his team selection betrayed a degree of overconfidence that United paid for and justly so. Well done to Rangers for defending like champs – they deserved their point.

Of course the result was overshadowed by the terrible ankle injury suffered by poor Antonio Valencia. Everyone at Pies wishes him a full recovery – there’s a very slim chance we may see him again this season, but it’s likely he’ll be out for the whole campaign. Time for Mr Parsnip (aka Gabriel Obertan) to step up?
