Oranje Wednesday: Ajax suffer first defeat of season
Ajax lost for the first time this season in a shock 1-3 home defeat against NAC Breda. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar’s last-minute consolation was not enough to spare their blushes. A Jan Vertonghen own goal, and goals from Matthew Amoah and Ahmed Ammi secured the win for NAC.
The result meant PSV Eindhoven went top and have a two-point lead over Ajax. Third place Feyenoord moved level with Ajax on 28 points in style with a 6-0 romp against Heracles. The only consolation for second-from-bottom Heracles was that the only team below them, Sparta, were beaten 7-1 by FC Utrecht!
