Newcastle United 0-3 Sunderland – Premier League – 1st February 2014
Gus Poyet’s impressive reign as Sunderland boss hit another high on Saturday when his side battered rivals Newcastle 3-0 at St. James’ Park. A Fabio Borini penalty and an Adam Johnson strike in the first-half were followed by a goal from Jack Colback as the visitors took three points to move themselves two points clear of the drop-zone. As for Newcastle, without the recently departed Yohan Cabaye, they struggled to create enough decent chances, although they did improve after the break. Still, a 3-0 defeat at home to Sunderland will have left many of the Toon Army crying into their beer on Saturday night.
