West Ham United 1-0 Newcastle United – Premier League – 29th November 2014
In a less-than-spectacular clash at the Boleyn Ground, Aaron Cresswell’s first top-tier goal downed Alan Pardew’s Magpies and gave the Hammers a much-needed win in the process.
Newcastle’s cause wasn’t helped by the dismissal of captain Moussa Sissoko midway in the second-half for two yellows card (shown within 46 seconds of each other). Spanish striker Ayoze Perez had the best chances for the visitors however it was Hammers’ full-back Aaron Cresswell who would score the decisive goal, when Cheikhou Kouyate’s weak shot fell into the defender’s path.
Sam Allardyce’s charges go fifth, three places ahead of the Magpies.
