Sepp Blatter has received a Nobel Prize endorsement from the one person left on the planet who still views the FIFA president as a morally upstanding, above board, straight-laced kind of fellow – that person being Russian overlord Vladimir Putin.

‘Like Scaramanga joining forces with Blofeld’ is how we’ve heard the unholy alliance best described this morning.

Anyway, speaking in an interview with Swiss broadcaster RTS after the pair buddied up following the 2018 World Cup preliminary draw ceremony in St Petersburg over the weekend, Putin praised his new pal, dismissed talk of corruption within FIFA and even went so far as to nominate Saint Sepp for a Nobel prize.

This coming just a few short weeks after the Nobel Peace Prize Board officially severed their links with FIFA in light of the corruption scandal that is currently enveloping the entire organisation.

“We all know the situation developing around Mr Blatter right now,” said Putin, regardless.

“I don’t want to go into details but I don’t believe a word about him being involved in corruption personally.

“I think people like Mr Blatter or the heads of big international sporting federations, or the Olympic Games, deserve special recognition.

“If there is anyone who deserves the Nobel Prize, it’s those people.”

Hear hear, presuming of course that they’re giving out Nobel Prizes for ‘unrepentant self-interest on a corporate scale’ these days.
