In Pictures: Scotland 2-3 Spain – World Champions Edge Scotland The Brave

By Ollie Irish

A very predictable defeat for Scotland against the current world and European champions, but the manner of the defeat will have left many Scotland fans feeling strangely buoyant – because at least their team showed a good measure of guts and quality to fight back from 2-0 down (unlike the Czech anti-football debacle last week).

It took a late goal by Spanish sub Fernando Llorente to settle a tie which Scotland just about deserved to get something out of, despite being outplayed for long periods. Still, two goals against the best team in the world can’t mask the cold fact that Scotland have scored just four points in four Euro 2012 qualifiers. It’s simply not good enough and already qualification for Poland & Ukraine looks beyond them.
