Chelsea 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur – Capital One Cup Final – 1st March 2015

Jose Mourinho won his first trophy since returning to English football after his Chelsea side deservedly won a dour final at Wembley.

Tottenham started well against a Chelsea side with Kurt Zouma in a holding midfield role but the Lilywhites rarely threatened the Blues’ goal. Christian Eriksen did hit the crossbar courtesy of a fine free-kick early on but it was Mourinho’s men who would open the scoring, with captain John Terry’s deflected close-range effort beating Hugo Lloris.

After the break, Mauricio Pochettino’s charges looked devoid of ideas and on 56 minutes, the Blues sealed the deal, when Diego Costa’s shot was directed into the Spurs’ net by Kyle Walker. Rather than produce a rousing comeback however, the Liltwhites were well beaten in a game devoid of much excitement.
