It’s all very un-Tottenham, but the club have been smart and swift in producing a new contract offer for Dele Alli after the young midfielder’s rise to prominence this season.

The new deal, which was confirmed by the club this morning, sees the 19-year-old talent locked in until 2021 with a reported £10,000 wage bump chucked in for good measure.

Fine work. This really is a brave new age of sensible efficiency for Spurs.

Spurs do this regularly and have done for a while now. Kane, Dier, Mason, Bentaleb Rose all extended deals with improved terms within last year. Lloris extended for five years the year before. Lamela will be next
