Man City Approach Sunderland For ‘Keeper Marton Fulop

By Chris Wright

Manchester City have approached Sunderland with the view of signing their reserve ‘keeper Marton Fulop on an emergency loan as cover for the injured Shay Given and his understudy Stuart Taylor.

Given sustained a dislocated shoulder during last weekend’s game with Arsenal and Taylor has failed to prove his fitness following surgery to correct a knee problem.

Fulop hasn’t enjoyed the best of seasons and currently finds himself behind the in-form Craig Gordon and young Northern Irishman Trevor Carson in the pecking order at The Black Cats.

It is thought that manager Steve Bruce would be willing to let the 26-year-old Hungarian leave Sunderland for the remainder of the season, but City still require Premier League clearance to sign a goalkeeper outside of the transfer window, and a ruling is expected in the next few days.

What about us? That’s ridiculous! I bet even Gunnar Nielsen is better than our keepers…
