As you may recall, the Boca Juniors fans were fairly keen to turn out and welcome prodigal son Carlos Tevez back onto home soil upon his recent return to La Bombonera.
It probably won’t surprise you to learn that Tevez’s first goal was met with similar scenes of intense jubilation, with the former Juventus striker getting himself off the mark (again) with a goal in Boca’s 3-0 win over Banfield in the Copa Argentina on Wednesday evening.
At the very instant Tevez’s sneaky low freekick ruffled the back of the net, the Boca fans – a boisterous lot at the best of times – went into apoplectic meltdown.
Just listen to this cacophony and keep in mind that the video probably doesn’t do the crackling atmosphere the slightest semblance of justice…
‘Ear-splitting’, we believe is the technical term.
No wonder little Carlitos had been longing to return home ever since the very day he left.
