With all this talk of Alan Pardew, it’s perhaps the perfect time to recall a peak in his career. Before his management days, he liked to play a bit of football. His greatest match came for Crystal Palace against the mighty Liverpool side of the late nineties. Earlier in the season, The Reds had battered The Eagles 9-0 in the league. The semi-final was a different matter altogether. In one of the greatest matches I’ve ever seen, the underdogs managed to win 4-3 with Pardew scoring the winner. Watch out for Ian Wright and Mark Bright’s amusing anecdotes at the tail end of the vid.
