Scotland 1-0 Republic Of Ireland – Euro 2016 Qualifiers – 14th November 2014
Gordon Strachan’s Scotland side secured a vital win at home to Ireland on Friday night, in a game played at an incredibly high pace.
Shaun Maloney was the goal-hero for the home side, deftly curling home on 74 minutes. That goal came after both sides had huffed and puffed without creating too many clear-cut chances. Late on, the visitors almost equalised with Grant Hanley heading against his own crossbar. However, the Scots hung on to claim a precious three points.
The results sees Scotland go level on seven points with Germany and Ireland in Group D, with Poland three points clear at the top.
