Back in November, the tireless chaps over at Footy Headlines stumbled on a teaser image (above) of the new Manchester United home kit for next season.
As we were able to glean at the time, it looked like Adidas were preparing to ring in the second season of their huge supply deal with United by creating a home strip inspired by the club’s formative years – specifically the half-and-half design of the very first Newton Heath kits.
Now, several months down the line, Footy Headlines have got their paws on another leaked image, this time of the 2016/17 shirt in its entirety, which clearly shows the two-hue approach that Adidas will be taking…
It’s smart, if a little on the ‘dull, blocky template kit’ side of the line.
That said, the stripes tucked underneath the arms are a nice touch and it’s probably a blessing that Adidas haven’t opted to chuck in a lace-up collar like Newton Heath-inspired United kits of old.
Like playing in a bloody duffel bag.
