MANCHESTER CITY want to make Cristiano Ronaldo the world’s most expensive footballer – for the second time in 12 months.
The Sky Blues are lining up a mind-blowing £250million summer swoop for the Real Madrid maestro. Mark Hughes will ditch several high-earning stars, including Robinho and Roque Santa Cruz, to help pay Ronaldo’s astronomical £350,000-a-week wages.
City believe even Madrid will not be able to resist the offer of a quarter of a BILLION pounds for their star player.
The Portuguese star has never, ever expressed a desire to move to his former club’s local rivals, but the prospect of joining up with the likes of Wayne Bridge and Pablo Zabaleta is sure to be tempting.

And there you go – job done, bait laid. That’s how disgracefully easy it is to be a football journalist on a tabloid newspaper. No source, no credibility, but many people lap this crap up because it comes from a national newspaper.
And yet if Pies or another independent football site had contrived such a – frankly insulting – ‘story’ as Barcelona’s summer bid for Wayne Rooney (of which this post is a direct parody – sorry if it tricked you into clicking, but seriously, come on!), readers would, quite rightly, be calling bullshit, and asking “Who told you this?”
So I posted it not because I wanted anyone to believe that City would ever make such an absurd bid for C-Ron, but instead as a (rather crude) satire on the parlous state of so much modern football journalism. They. Make. This. Shit. Up.
We deserve better.
