The draws for the first knock-out stages of both the Champions League and the Europa League have been completed this morning in Nyon, with the Champions League round-of-16 draw looking like this (image via UEFA.com)…
Oooof. While Chelsea and Manchester United have outwardly winnable ties to look forward to, those are two huge draws for Man City and Arsenal right there. Gut reaction is that both will fall at the last-16 hurdle though, of course, Arsenal have beaten Bayern before in the not-too-distant past so it’s not unpossible.
While we’re on the subject, the Europa League last-32 draw has also been completed this morning, with the fixtures looking like this (image via UEFA.com)…
Tottenham will face Dnipro, who are currently managed by ex-Spurs boss Juande Ramos, so that’s…nice. Elsewhere, Swansea have landed themselves an extremely daunting two-legger against Rafa Benitez’s Champions League drop-outs Napoli. You’d fancy that this may be the end of the line for Michael Laudrup’s clan.
