Bayern Munich came from a goal down at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Tuesday night to put themselves in the driving seat of their quarter-final clash with Sevilla.

Sevilla, slayers of Manchester United in the last 16, started strongly and eventually took the lead on 32 minutes through Pablo Sarabia.

The midfielder had been guilty of missing a gilt-edged chance to open the scoring from close-range.

However, almost instantly, Sarabia made amends for that howler courtesy of a close-range effort, albeit with a little help from his hand.

Bayern got back into the game via a slice of good luck before half-time, with ex-Man City winger Jesus Navas deflecting Franck Ribery’s low cross into his own net.

After the break, the Bundesliga giants showed their experience and eventually completed the comeback on 68 minutes, with Spanish international Thiago Alcantara heading home from a Ribery cross, albeit via a helpful deflection.

That goal would prove to the winner for veteran coach Jupp Heynkes and his charges, who will be strong favourites to finish the job back at the Allianz Arena next week.

Although Sevilla, who produced that fine display at Old Trafford in the last round, aren’t dead and buried just yet.
