Sunderland 0-0 Chelsea – Premier League – 29th November 2014
A superb defensive display from the Black Cats saw league-leaders Chelsea held to a goalless draw at the Stadium of Light on Saturday. Indeed, this was the first time this season, in any competition, where the Blues failed to find the back of the net.
Willian came closest to breaking the deadlock for the Londoners, with the Brazilian striking the post. However, the hosts creating a number of chances themselves, with Santiago Vergini seeing his effort hit the crossbar. Late on, Sunderland threatened to pull off a shock victory but ultimately Gus Poyet and co would have to (happily) settle for a draw.
Despite the result, the Blues stay a comfortable seven points clear at the top of the table, while Sunderland are 13th.
