Chelsea 1-1 Manchester City – Premier League – 31st January 2015
Chelsea weathered a late storm against Man City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, but managed to secure a draw which sees their five-point lead at the top of the table remain in tact.
Without the suspended Diego Costa and the injured Cesc Fabregas, the hosts struggled to click into gear in the first-half, but they eventually took the lead on 41 minutes. Loic Remy was the goal-hero for the Blues, with the Frenchman firing home from close-range after great work from both Eden Hazard and Branislav Ivanovic. However, that lead lasted only four minutes, with David Silva levelling things up after Thibault Courtois failed to adequately deal with a cross.
After the break, the Citizens started to dominate as Chelsea looked to keep hold of their point. However, even the introduction of Chelsea old-boy Frank Lampard couldn’t get the visitors that all-important goal as the game ended all-square.
