Pies grades England’s squad, and its manager, after an abject World Cup campaign:
Fabio Capello - You can only work with what you have, and Capello soon discovered that he was 'gifted' a bunch of quite good players with small minds and big egos - not the Golden Generation he'd been promised. Still, the Don got quite a lot wrong, such as sticking rigidly with a 4-4-2 against Germany, when everyone could see Mezut Ozil would eat that formation for breakfast. In the end, the Italian played too stubborn and too safe (no Joe Hart in goal, no Adam Johnson in the final 23) and paid the price. The players may fear him but they don't seem to respect or like him much - that was a major cause for England's shitty morale in South Africa. Still, Capello is a first-rate manager and I hope he stays and learns from his mistakes.pa-photos_t_england-world-cup-report-card-photos-2906y
