Manchester City cruised to a comfortable victory away to Basel on Tuesday, with the Citizens blitzing the Swiss side in the early stages of the game.

The rejuvenated Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring for the Premier League side on 14 minutes, nodding home a Kevin De Bruyne corner.

Just four minutes later, City scored again, with Bernardo Silva’s volley just about beating ‘keeper Tomas Vaclik.

The next City goal came on 23 minutes, with the ever-prolific Sergio Aguero nabbing his 10th goal in his last seven outings by firing home from outside the box…

Gundogan would get his second and City’s fourth of the night after the break, cutting back and clipping a measured shot inside the far post as Pep Guardiola’s side strolled to a first-leg victory at St. Jakob-Park.

Despite being second-best throughout, Basel did manage to create a number of chances.

However, ultimately City ploughed to the comfortable win they deserved.

With the return leg now surely a formality, City are almost certain to breeze into the quarter-finals of the Champions League, with a real chance of lifting the trophy this season.

Oh, and can we get a little love for this exquisite first touch from Bernando Silva?

The stuff of dreams.
