It’s official. Wayne Rooney has agreed a vast new five-and-a-half-year contract at Manchester United that will see the striker earn £300,000-a-week at Old Trafford, ostensibly until he retires.
As BBC Sport have it, Rooney (who was already reported to be earning £250,000-a-week at United under the terms of his old deal) has extended his contract by four years, thus tying him to the club until June of 2019.
According to Twitter and its rudimentary maths, this is how Rooney’s new deal breaks down…
£15,600,000-a-year
£300,000-a-week
£43,000-a-day
£1,800-an-hour
£30-a-minute
50p-a-second
Does he deserve it? Is he worth that kind of ‘upper echelon’ money? Obviously so – at least that’s what United seem to think.
All we know is that £300,000-a-week will buy a fella an awful lot of Monster Munch.
