Olympiakos 2-0 Manchester United – Champions League Last 16 1st leg – 25th February 2014
Manchester United produced an utterly limp performance away at Olympiakos on Tuesday night, with the 2-0 defeat heaping even more pressure on David Moyes. The hosts were by far the better side and got a goal in either half, with Alejandro Dominguez diverting home Giannis Maniatis’ shot before Arsenal loanee Joel Campbell side-stepped Michael Carrick before curling a superb effort past David De Gea.
Overall, the Red Devils rarely threatened the Greek’s goal, with their first shot on target coming at the death when Robin Van Persie really should have done better. However, a goal would have been a rather unjust reward for such a disjointed performance. While beating Olympiakos 3-0 at Old Trafford is by no means beyond the realms of possibility, it is the sheer lack of quality of the display which will add to the questions being asked about Moyes’ suitability for the United hot-seat.
