Manchester United’s comprehensive victory over Manchester City is reported on in the Daily Mail. The paper’s Ian Ladyman tells readers that the “home team had all the game’s best players”. He says Daley Blind was “excellent“.
One page on and readers are treated to those all-important scores out of 10. You might expect Blind to get an excellent score for his excellent performance. After all, Ladyman was at the match and so had the best view of it, able to see the players’ movements when they were not framed by the TV screen. But the Mail’s Chris Wheeler gives Blind a less than excellent 6 out of 10.
That’s the same score as Manchester City’s Demichelis and David Silva. It’s one point less than the Citizens’ Sergio Aguero.
Indeed, Aguero scores higher than seven Manchester United players.
Either the scores are meaningless or else the Mail doesn’t trust it’s own match reports…
