According to reports in the Spanish press (notably here) Cristiano Ronaldo has travelled to Galicia in order to donate blood to the victims of the train crash near the north-western city of Santiago de Compostela which, at time of writing, has  has claimed the lives of at least 80 people and injured over 160 more.

“It is with great sadness that I learned of the news of the accident of train in Spain. #animogalicia”

“I sympathise with the victims and ask them to contribute in helping the wounded by local authorities. #animogalicia”

Though there is some consternation as to whether the photo above is actually of Ronaldo giving blood in Galicia or not, the Real Madrid star Tweeted his condolences to the families of the victims of the tragedy and all those involved and is believed to have left the club’s pre-season training camp to go and donate blood.

Good egg, that Ronaldo boy.
