St Mirren fans have voted six-year-old academy player Aaron Woodall as the club’s Player of the Year in recognition of the brave little chap’s ongoing recovery from cancer.

Aaron was diagnosed with a brain tumour late last year and has since undergone multiple surgeries, intensive radiotherapy and is currently still receiving chemotherapy as he continues to fight the disease.

Hundreds of fans registered their votes in the Player of the Year poll run by the Black and White Army (the largest unofficial St Mirren fan site), with young Aaron receiving almost 200 more votes than the runner-up, top scorer Kenny McLean.

“Aaron’s strength & courage has been an inspiration to all of us, and a timely reminder of things around us that are much more important than football,” the Black and White Army site said.

For winning the prestigious award, Aaron will receive the coveted trophy as well as a framed St Mirren shirt, signed by the League Cup-winning team of 2013.

Awww. Smashing stuff!
