Rafael van der Vaart is all set to make his debut in the British Darts Organisation (BDO) Denmark Open at the start of next month.
Van der Vaart, 36, will take part alongside his brother Fernando at the tournament in Esbjerg on 4th May, and is also listed to play in the Denmark Masters on the 5th.
The Dutchman retired from football in November after persistent injuries brought a premature end to a short stint playing for Esbjerg fB – the hometown club of his current girlfriend, Danish handball professional Estavana Polman.
Van der Vaart has taken part in a couple of pro-am charity darts events before, even partnering with Michael van Gerwen earlier this year at the PDC Celebrity Darts Championship, where they were beaten in the final.
