Sunday turned out to be a fairly rotten old afternoon for PSV as Phillip Cocu’s side lost 2-1 away to Roda JC, finishing the game with ten men and seeing their goalkeeper, Przemyslaw Tyton, carted off to hospital in the back of an ambulance after knocking himself out cold when he collided with the woodwork at a fair old velocity in the act of parrying Marc Hocher’s free-kick clear with a matter of minutes left to play.
According to Polish site Przeglad Sportowy, Tyton’s mother was sitting directly behind the goal at the time just to make matters that little bit more frantic…
Having used all their subs already, PSV forward Ola Toivonen was press-ganged into donning the gloves for the final few minutes.
Thankfully, Tyton came round before being lifted into the ambulance and, after being given a quick once-over in A&E, is expected to return to training later this week.
(Fun fact o’ the day: Przemyslaw Tyton’s name seems to translate into English as “Przemyslaw Tobacco” if Google translate is to be believed!)
