Sunday’s ‘De Klassieker’ was quite an occasion, with Ajax beating their bitter rivals Feyenoord 2-1 at the Amsterdam ArenA to move just a point behind leaders PSV in the Eredivisie. Before the game, the intensity of the animosity between the two sets of fans was highlighted by the hanging from the stands of an effigy of ex-Ajax and current Feyenoord goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer.
