At 34-years-old, Daniele De Rossi has had his fair share of contentious moments on the football field, but on Sunday, the Roma warhorse indulged in a rather incredible bit of unwelcome behaviour.
Having his shirt pulled by GianLuca Lapadula before a corner during Roma’s Serie A clash with Genoa, De Rossi lost control and slapped his opponent before falling to the floor himself and holding his face…
This legit categorizes as assault if it would’ve happened on the streets and he acts the victim lmaaao😂😂 Love De Rossi man pic.twitter.com/NzXpbC1uHv

Not surprisingly, Rossi didn’t escape the all-seeing eye of the VAR technology, and was duly sent off for the slap, while his theatrical attempt wasn’t missed either.
Just what was he thinking!?
After the game, an embarrassed Rossi said:
There are no excuses. I have to say sorry to the players, the coach and the fans.
Down to 10 men, Roma would eventually throw away their 1-0 lead, with none other than Lapadula himself netting the equaliser.
