West Ham United 1-1 West Bromwich Albion – Premier League – 1st January 2015

Tony Pulis watched from the stands as his new side West Brom battled to a deserved draw at Upton Park on New Year’s Day.

The Hammers had opened the scoring through Diafro Sakho on 10 minutes, with the striking heading home from an Aaron Cresswell centre. However, the Baggies responded well and eventually got back on level terms just before the break. In-demand striker Saido Berahino was the goal-hero for the visitors, with the youngster firing home from a Stephane Sessegnon cross. After the break, and after Pulis had relayed some advice to his new players, Cresswell hit the frame of the goal with a free-kick but overall West Brom were comfortable and fully deserved their share of the spoils.

Sam Allardyce’s Hammers are seventh, four points off a Champions League berth while West Brom go 17th, one point above the drop-zone.
