One to watch: Stilian Petrov, Aston Villa

Stilian ‘Stan’ Petrov had a cracking debut for Aston Villa at Upton Park yesterday. Villa fans must be getting happier by the day. I didn’t see much of Petrov whilst he was at Celtic, but Martin O’Neill knows a good player when he sees one – the fact that Villa’s new boss desperately wanted Petrov to join him at Villa Park tells me that Petrov is a decent player. I’ve heard people describe him as ‘like Roy Keane, but without the mentalism’ and that seems about right – he’s a versatile, box-to-box midfielder, likely to get a few goals and set up a fair few too.
Hmm, I may have to consider signing Stan the Man for my fantasy team…
