Forget your Arsenals and your Liverpools. The result of the night, no question, was Rubin Kazan’s 2-1 victory at Barcelona – good work if you had a fiver on the Russian underdogs to pull off a remarkable victory; I didn’t see the pre-match odds but I guess they were at least 10/1 to win.
Barcelona played OK and peppered Kazan’s goal with 24 shots. The Russians had just three shots and scored with two of them. Funny. Old. Game.
To his credit, Barca boss Pep Guardiola credited Kazan on playing “a great game”. Class act, Pep.
